Tom Ridge, former Homeland Security Secretary, is now working for Savi Technology. Savi Technology is an RFID vendor. The US government is considering putting RFID chips in passports.
Well, they're republicans, what do you expect. They're in the middle of the most excellent game ever of "hey, we're evil, we're evil, and we're running this shit."

I'm hesitant to paint him with the broad brush of "evil," particularly because that is what the President seems to enjoy doing. I don't think he is evil.
He is acting in his own interest, for personal gain. Even if he isn't using any of the contacts he made at the DHS to get RFID contracts, it smells bad.
Government service seems to be seen, in some circles, as some kind of fraternity or exclusive social club, one from which you graduate to big business taking advantage of friendships and favors gained. That makes me sad. I think we should put the republic before personal gain.
I wonder what I would do in the same circumstances.
