OneCare

Yahoo:

"Microsoft Corp. was to announce Wednesday that it is releasing software that aims to better protect people who use its Windows operating system from Internet attacks.

Windows Live OneCare, which will protect up to three computers for $49.95 per year, marks the latest step in Microsoft's effort over the years to make its operating system less vulnerable to crippling Internet attacks"

Ignoring the odd future / past tense magic of the AP's writer, I'm not terribly excited about paying Microsoft for Windows, then paying them again to make it a little harder to break into.

Shouldn't Windows be secure as purchased? Why would I pay more money to Microsoft to have their OS suck less?

I really don't understand this. One of the many reasons I don't own any Windows PCs.
