Emily Miller

Information is coming out about how investigators uncovered the Abramoff scandal.

"What once was the subject of gossip and Internet traffic has solidified into front-page news: [Emily] Miller has been cooperating with federal investigators as they bring down DeLay aides in what may be a tightening of the net around the former majority leader himself.

According to a detailed account in the Wall Street Journal, Miller was successfully approached by prosecutors after the collapse of her engagement to Michael Scanlon, another senior DeLay aide whom she had met while both worked for DeLay. Scanlon threw Miller over for a waitress, the Journal reported. An earlier Internet account said it was his manicurist." [via the Houston Chronicle]

You also get to hear Chris Matthews pandering.

I have truly lost my way.

Boot

I've never seen a boot loader generate so much interest. Still, it is kind of cool that Apple is officially supporting dual-booting on their hardware. This should make things easier for Linux and *BSD, too.

I'll really sport wood when VMWare works on OS X / Intel.

Ecstasy

"The man, known as Mr A in the report in the scientific journal Psychosomatics, started using ecstasy at 21. For the first two years his use was an average of five pills per weekend. Gradually this escalated until he was taking around three and a half pills a day. At the peak, the man was taking an estimated 25 pills every day for four years. After several severe collapses at parties, Mr A decided to stop taking ecstasy. For several months, he still felt he was under the influence of the drug, despite being bedridden." [via Guardian Unlimited]

This leaves me with two questions:

  • How does a person function on that much ecstasy?
  • Given that he was doing so much ecstasy, where did his money come from?
